How To Find The Best Lawn Care Professional

There are times when you are simply too busy to do proper lawn care yourself. Weeding out a lawn care professional can sometimes be more work than doing it yourself.

The most important thing you can do is ask for references and check them. Ask the references the following questions.

1) What is their relationship to your lawn care provider? The only acceptable answer for this is that the provider does their lawn too. If the provider does not work for them this should be a red flag. Why would they even ad this person to the references?

2) Does the provider do a good job? The answer to this should obviously be yes.

3) Does the provider ever miss days and if so how often. You need to ask this for 2 reasons. First you want to make sure you are getting what you pay for. Especially if you pay a monthly or contracted fee for the job. Second you want someone you can count on even if you are out of town.

You need to be sure you approve of the procedures they use. If you have a beautifully manicured front lawn, be sure they do regular weeding, feeding, aerate, and anything else you like. If instead you have a huge field where the dogs and chickens play then make sure they aren't charging you for those services. The idea here is to outline exactly what you'd like them to do before you sign any contracts with them.

It isn't always the best idea to simply hire the lowest priced lawn care provider. That may be a recipe for "you get what you pay for". What you want to do is clarify with them which services you are paying for. By all means ask for a discount if a service is normally included and you will not be using it.

One final tip, find out if they offer winter services. Some won't due to the nature of the job. It is a really great benefit if you can get someone who will come out and remove ice or snow in the very cold months of winter. I've even known some who will install you holiday lighting and then remove it for you. So you see pre-screening is really very important for both you and your provider.

If your lawn care provider is doing a fabulous job. Pampering you year round, by all means don't forget about then during the holidays. Offering them a gift or even just a card can go a long way in creating a rewarding relationship.
